Swim Wild, Swim Free

Swim Wild, Swim Free …..

I set about this year with a purpose, to be in nature, to explore, to swim, to live in my van as much as possible and most importantly to find myself again, a spiritual reset to peace. No better place to do it than the Scottish countryside and deep inside my own head during long swims. There is something magical about being immersed in nature, be it climbingm walking, swiming, running or just chilling with a view. I spent most of my adult life in the hills and mountains, Himalaya, Alps, Rockies, Norwegian and Mongolian peaks to name a few. It saw a great journey of discovery, of the world we live in but also inside myself.

Still sunny mornings over water and hills, peace by nature, peace by living.

Right now I am more focused on long distance swimming and discovering the hidden lochs tucked away in remote glens and hidden behind thick Forests than being high on a mountain top. I always found peace in swimming, the slower pace, rhythmical almost meditiative state to it, you can sort the world or you can just switch off and relax into your purpose, one of slowly making your way from one point to another, there can be no rush, just smalll steps adding up to a long journey, eventually reaching your journeys end in better place in a different time.

My season started near home, forays into my local lochs and Reservoirs, Alemoor, Megget, Fruid started my journey and now I have slowly been working my way North exploring as I go. I had very rarely been in the Trossachs until this year, always regarding it as a tourist hotspot due to its proximity to Glasgow but away from these crowds I have found some great swimming, beautiful countryside and very friendly people always interested in what I am doing. Its been a good summer so far and Im heading far North soon in search of some of some more secluded and word of mouth  I will write in detail about some of the lochs at a later date for anyone interested in dipping their toe into any of them 😀

Frank furry legend! fear the beard.
